Many friends who want to buy a telescope must be entangled. If you want to buy a good telescope, the price is not cheap, and you will definitely consider it again and again. if you heard that military telescopes are good, but there is an extreme lack of knowledge about telescopes, so you'll be hesitated because you can't distinguish between good and bad.
In fact, there are many differences between military telescope and civilian telescope depending on the use environment and the object of observation.
First of all, their optical systems are different. Most military telescopes have reticles, and their reticles used at night are also illuminated by lights. The exit pupil of military telescopes is relatively large, so that observers can wear gas masks. In order to prevent hitting the head when shooting, some scopes have an exit pupil distance as large as 70 or 80 millimeters, and an eye mask and forehead guards with moderate hardness are also provided.
In terms of optical performance and structural performance, military binoculars are more excellent and reliable because they are more carefully designed, with excellent materials and sophisticated craftsmanship, such as good image quality, less stray light, and matching magnification to the size of the entrance pupil. Achieve the best resolution. The housing of military telescope is made of metal instead of plastic to ensure that it will not crack or deform after long-term use. In contrast, ordinary civilian telescopes are worse in terms of sealing and materials, and some are not only plastic housing, but even internal lenses are also made of resin plastic.
Due to the high quality requirements, military telescopes must undergo environmental tests before they leave the factory, which generally include vibration tests, high temperature (ten 55°C) tests, low temperature (45°C) tests, rain or water immersion tests, and air tightness tests. After these tests, the product performance can still be guaranteed within the specified range before leaving the factory. Some products also come with a dryer inside the lens body. The air is taken out before leaving the factory and then filled with dry air or nitrogen, which can effectively prevent the internal lenses from growing moldy and fogging in the future.
Ordinary civilian telescopes generally do not do environmental tests, or do only part of the tests. This is difficult for people to understand from the market, nor can it be seen from the appearance of the product.
Because of these differences, the design and manufacture of military telescopes requires much higher costs, so their price is higher than that of ordinary civilian telescopes. Military telescope instruments: Most military optical instruments in the field have the basic characteristics of telescopes based on telescopes. Generally speaking, military telescopes are limited to handheld, binocular telescopes whose main purpose is to observe and search. Their working principle and appearance are not much different from ordinary civilian telescopes.
Due to different uses, other military telescopes have different names, such as sights, optical rangefinders, artillery mirrors, steering wheels, peripheral mirrors, periscopes, reconnaissance theodolites, etc.,. These instruments all have the function of observing and searching long-distance targets, and at the same time have their own special functions.
With the development of modern electronic technology, certain telescope instruments have been gradually eliminated, but the basic imaging principles of telescopes are still widely used in military observation and guidance.
